Job Title: Facilities Coordinator

Location: Chelsea, Vermont

Company: Orange County

Position Type: Full-time (32 hours per week), with flexibility in daily hours

Overview: Orange County is seeking a dedicated Facilities Coordinator to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the historic courthouse in Chelsea, Vermont, as well as the building oversight for the Orange County Sheriff's department building. The ideal candidate will possess a willingness to learn, a helpful attitude, and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks for the historic courthouse.
  • Conduct grounds maintenance activities during the summer months, including lawn mowing, landscaping, and general outdoor upkeep to ensure the exterior of the buildings presents a well-maintained appearance.
  • Conduct walkway snow clearing during winter months to ensure safe access to both buildings.
  • Coordinate and oversee larger repair and maintenance projects conducted by contractors at both buildings, ensuring work is completed to standard and within budget.
  • Conduct regular inspections of both buildings to identify maintenance needs and address any issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and expenditures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for issues related to the Courthouse and grounds, and coordinate with relevant suppliers as needed.
  • Act as the primary contact person for facilities-related emergencies at the Courthouse, such generator failure or fire alarm activations.
  • Monitor building HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, reporting any issues and coordinating repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with building code regulations.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to facilities management, including budget planning and procurement of supplies.
  • Work with the Vermont Judiciary’s security specialists as needed to ensure the safety and security of building occupants.
  • Assist with implementation of energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Judges and Judiciary staff to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for all employees and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational training or certification in facilities management or a related field a plus.
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of building HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems helpful but not required; willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
